Construction of the new main station is getting clearer contours
The people of Brno have waited a long time for a new station. And now it has arrived.
The construction of the new main station, the transfer terminal in Černovice and the modernisation of the lines is to start in 5 years and be completed in 2034.
The joint commitment was signed on 4 May 2023 by the Minister of Transport Martin Kupka, the Mayor of Brno Markéta Vaňková, the South Moravian Governor Jan Grolich, the Director of the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure Zbyněk Hořelica and Mojmír Nejezchleb on behalf of the Railway Administration.
The approved visual design of the station, the feasibility study and the final zoning decision were thus joined by the signing of another step in the form of starting work on the design of the entire area of the main station and its surroundings. The preliminary budget for this modernisation is almost CZK 50 billion.
